The Be Smart About Art Academy is being launched in 2012. We will shortly announce an evening workshop titled “How to Attain Gallery Representation”. This will be followed by a training course for artists and a separate course for art dealers / artist agents. These courses are run as six half-day workshops – once per week over a six week period. Each workshop will be run by Susan Mumford and will include at least one specialist guest speaker, workshop topics covering amongst other areas: defining your niche, writing a vision statement, overviewing and implementing marketing strategies (online and offline, exhibitions, fairs, etc), pricing, starting and closing sales, incorporating legal essentials in your business, book-keeping, transporting & insuring art and yourself, and much, much more. The course is being designed to suit start-ups and existing businesses alike; there will be plenty for all attendees to learn to bring commercial savvy to the work you love.

Graduates will be eligible to enroll in the Be Smart About Art Academy Alumni programme that offers ongoing professional development including quarterly half-day workshops and networking opportunities, a platform for networking with fellow Alumni and arts professionals, access to ongoing business support and more.
The total cost for the basic course is normally £550 with an Early Bird offer of £495. For our first course only, we are offering a reduced rate of £295. Places are limited; please click here to complete the online application form to be considered for the course.
